TIP 1: Keep your skin clean. Keep your skin clean. Keep your skin clean.
This is the most important, because if you don’t, dirt can easily clog your pores, resulting in enlarged pores or even worse, acne. As easy as it sounds, very few people actually do it right to stay away from skin problems. Here are the lessons that I learned throughout the years:
Rule of Thumb No. 1: Yes, we do need to wash our face thoroughly, but not more than twice a day. When my skin does get oily during the day, I often using face blotting papers to pat on my face gently to freshen up.
(This one comes with an adhesive sponge and a mirror for easy use)
Rule of Thumb # 2: Use the right facial cleanser is extremely important. I have tried numerous face washes out in the market, and below are a few ones that I recommend.
Rule of Thumb # 3: Wash by massaging with your fingertips in round circles. Or use a cleansing brush. Clarisonic is my favorite, and it does work.
Rule of Thumb # 4: Wash your Clarisonic, makeup brushes, pillows, bedsheets, towels… at least once every two weeks. Our faces are in contact with these things every day, so we need to keep them clean as well.
Rule of Thumb # 5: Avoid touching your face as much as possible during the day. Our hands carry lots of dirt, oil, and germs, and we do not want to bring them onto our faces.
TIP 2: Keep your skin moisturized throughout the day.
Use lotion based or gel based moisturizer. I personally do not use any cream or oil based skincare products. Below are a few of my favorites:
I also carry mist sprays with me and spray it onto my face to keep my skin fresh and quenched throughout the day:
TIP 3: Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Hydrate frequently.
Fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins and keeps our skin young and healthy. If you don’t have the time, smoothies can do as well.
To give yourself some motivation, buy a chic water bottle that you are proud to carry around daily. I am a big fan of collecting water bottles. Bkr & S’well are my favorites now:
